ACHS goes Behind the Scenes in the News World in D.C.!

The Presidential Election will be big news over the next year. Join the Augusta County Historical Society for a November 9 trip that will offer an inside look at the world of news gathering, and the challenges of news reporting in a chaotic digital world.

TRIP DETAILS:
In the morning : Board bus at 6:15 a.m. for a trip to Washington D.C.
Visit C-SPAN, the public service news network created by the American Cable Television Industry. Top executives will provide insight into the technical and political challenges of the upcoming election. The group will meet with Brian Lamb, founder of C-SPAN, for an interactive discussion of on-going and expected news coverage of the 2016 election.

Lunch ~~ Union Station: many choices available

Afternoon ~~ Visit the Newseum, the museum that champions the FIVE FREEDOMS of the First Amendment. John Maynard, Director of Exhibit Programming at the Newseum will lead a behind-the-scenes activity for the group.

Dinner ~~ Union Station and then board bus for trip home.

Cost: $85 for ACHS members; $95 non-members (includes ticket to Newseum, any private tours, and bus seat)
