About the Project
Hunter Cline and Elijah Trumbo created this website to present their Eagle Projects to the community. The information for this website was found in news articles, death certificates, oral stories and historical archives. Hunter Cline did the Community side and Elijah Trumbo did the cemetery part. (Elijah Trumbo)The reason I chose to do this Eagle Project is because I wanted to preserve and bring back forgotten history. I thought that this was way too big to go unnoticed for this long. I also want the descendants to know what happened to their ancestors and have a place to visit. (Hunter Cline) The reason I chose to do this Eagle Project is because the land that Jonesboro is on was bought by my great grandfather in 1962 from the Johnson family for a hunting camp. My grandfather and dad have always told me stories about the structures on the land and the people who once lived there which was always interesting to me. When it came time to do my eagle project I decided to do it on Jonesboro because preserving the history of this land is important to me and my family. Also I chose to do this project because it is important for the local community to know the history of this lost, disappearing, and once thriving community. My hope is this site will help some of the family members of Jonesboro find there relatives and know some of their stories.
